It has been an intense five years of satisfaction, continuous training, study and growth, but also of mistakes. A path that catapulted me into a world that, until a few years earlier, I would not have imagined living. Thanks to courage, the desire to get back into the game, the knowledge that I could make mistakes, and the support of my first former manager Karen, who believed in me, I embarked on an initially difficult and entirely new path. With consistency, determination, and passion, this journey has helped me grow not only professionally, but also humanly, teaching me that teamwork is what determines victories and unites in times of difficulty.

Sono stati cinque anni intensi, fatti di soddisfazioni, formazione continua, studio e crescita, ma anche di errori. Un percorso che mi ha catapultato in un mondo che, fino a qualche anno prima, non avrei immaginato di vivere. Grazie al coraggio, alla voglia di rimettermi in gioco, alla consapevolezza di poter sbagliare e al sostegno della mia prima manager Karen, che ha creduto in me, ho intrapreso un cammino inizialmente difficile e del tutto nuovo. Con costanza, determinazione e passione, questo percorso mi ha fatto crescere non solo professionalmente, ma anche umanamente, insegnandomi che il lavoro di squadra è ciò che determina le vittorie e unisce nei momenti di difficoltà.

I learned that from mistakes, combined with successes, true growth is born. This is how I built my professional figure within the team: based on mutual trust and self-confidence. This trust has allowed me to achieve the autonomy necessary to face a project from start to finish together with the client, creating a bond that earns me his full respect. On some occasions I have been given carte blanche to carry out projects, supporting the teams on the construction site, interacting with customers during the work and seeing materialize, step by step, what had been discussed in the office. With great satisfaction, I had the responsibility not only to follow important projects, but also to ensure optimal after-sales.

Ho imparato che dagli errori, sommati ai successi, nasce la vera crescita. È così che ho costruito la mia figura professionale all’interno del team: basata sulla fiducia reciproca e sulla fiducia in me stesso. Questa fiducia mi ha permesso di raggiungere l’autonomia necessaria per affrontare un progetto dall’inizio alla fine insieme al cliente, creando un legame tale da guadagnarmi la sua piena stima. In alcune occasioni mi è stata concessa carta bianca per la realizzazione di progetti, affiancando le squadre in cantiere, interagendo in corso d’opera con i clienti e vedendo concretizzarsi, passo dopo passo, ciò che era stato discusso in ufficio. Con grande soddisfazione, ho avuto la responsabilità non solo di seguire progetti importanti, ma anche di garantire un post-vendita ottimale.

The large orders followed together with the team were also decisive, both in the office and on the construction site: from controlling costs and deadlines, to the monitoring of suppliers' delivery times, up to the management of unexpected events and of the changes underway. This approach led to the return of customers and, with pride, to positive word of mouth, a fundamental element for the success of a company. A decisive role was played by the people I worked with, who shared time with me and skills, and training, which allowed me to get to know an Italian company up close such as LUBE, LEMA Mobili and Loiudice Divani. But what matters most is human value, can be summed up in one word: loyalty. Loyalty to oneself, towards workmates and customers: a key point that leads a company to success, lived on my own skin during the five years I spent in Malta.

Determinanti sono state anche le grandi commesse seguite insieme al team, sia in ufficio che in cantiere: dal controllo dei costi e delle scadenze, al monitoraggio dei tempi di consegna dei fornitori, fino alla gestione degli imprevisti e dei cambiamenti in corso d’opera. Questo approccio ha portato al ritorno dei clienti e, con orgoglio, a un passaparola positivo, elemento fondamentale per il successo di un’azienda. Un ruolo decisivo lo hanno avuto le persone con cui ho lavorato, che hanno condiviso con me tempo e competenze, e la formazione, che mi ha permesso di conoscere da vicino un’azienda italiana come LUBE, LEMA Mobili e Loiudice Divani. Ma ciò che più conta è il valore umano, sintetizzabile in una sola parola: lealtà. Lealtà verso se stessi, verso i compagni di lavoro e verso i clienti: un punto cardine che porta un’azienda al successo, vissuto sulla mia pelle nei cinque anni trascorsi a Malta.

Knowing how to adapt to the times, learning from feedback is also essential and listen to customer needs. After-sales involvement is crucial: convey to the customer that the process does not end with the signing of a contract, but it continues far beyond. On the one hand, the team must be ready to resolve quickly the customer's needs; on the other hand, it is important to free sellers from duties which risk slowing them down, while remaining a point of reference for the customer. Another aspect that had a big impact on me was the relationship between work and private life. Knowing how to distinguish the two spheres is essential. On one side, the companies were able to meet me, giving me free afternoons, full freedom in organizing holidays and facilitating my return to Italy. On the other hand, I have ensured maximum availability in meeting deadlines, dividing myself between the office and the construction sites, completing the objectives in advance, replacing or assisting a colleague when necessary and, above all, knowing how to listen and stay united in times of difficulty. Even creating convivial moments – dinners, parties or simple after-work meetings – helped strengthen bonds, allowing me to get to know my teammates in a different light. A true balance of giving and receiving. With this last sentence I want to conclude the article, balance that is achieved with consistency and passion for what you do. Dedicated to all my former Maltese colleagues.

Fondamentale è anche sapersi adeguare ai tempi, imparare dai feedback e ascoltare le esigenze dei clienti. Il coinvolgimento nel post-vendita è determinante: trasmettere al cliente che il processo non si conclude con la firma di un contratto, ma continua ben oltre. Da un lato, il team deve essere pronto a risolvere in tempi brevi le esigenze del cliente; dall’altro, è importante liberare i venditori da incombenze che rischiano di rallentarli, pur restando per il cliente un punto di riferimento. Un altro aspetto che ha influito molto su di me è stato il rapporto tra lavoro e vita privata. Saper distinguere le due sfere è fondamentale. Da una parte, le aziende hanno saputo venirmi incontro, concedendomi pomeriggi liberi, piena libertà nell’organizzazione delle vacanze e agevolando i miei rientri in Italia. Dall’altra, ho garantito la massima disponibilità nel rispettare le scadenze, dividendomi tra ufficio e cantieri, completando gli obiettivi in anticipo, sostituendo o affiancando un collega quando necessario e, soprattutto, saper ascoltare e restare uniti nei momenti di difficoltà. Anche la creazione di momenti conviviali – cene, feste o semplici incontri dopo il lavoro – ha contribuito a rafforzare i legami, permettendomi di conoscere i miei compagni di squadra sotto una luce diversa. Un vero equilibrio di dare e ricevere. Proprio con quest’ultima frase voglio concludere l’articolo, equilibrio che si conquista con la costanza e passione per ciò che si fa.
